TrueCrypt review
TrueCrypt one of the best software dedicated to encrypt and hide your information.
We all have secrets. No matter what kind – often even the fact of the secret is the secret. Without additional software keep such information in hard drive not so secure. Even if you name your file totally innocent or protect it with Word/Excel password. Best way – encrypt them and hide with free open source software TrueCrypt.
Main TrueCrypt advantage, comparing with other encryption software (that king of software, even totally free, are really a lot), is so called plausible deniability. What is that means? It means, that data not only encrypted but also hide in such way, that:
1. no one even suspect that they are in computer;
2. even when knowing that there is encrypted data, its impossible to decrypt it.
I feel I must explain a little bit more about this all hiding process. At first TrueCrypt creates a place for file – all hard drive, USB stick or just file as storage for other files. All data in that place automatically encrypted with chosen encryption algorithm (see picture). When TrueCrypt is closed all data is unreadable (encrypted). Also that file-storage can have any name and any extension, or with out extension. For example you can call your storage "system.dat", "guule.inf". So you will avoid curios eyes.
Second trick even nicer. TrueCrypt allows protecting your data even in situation when you, in some reasons, must decrypt your files, for example jealous wife/husband. Then you can enter second – emergency- password, which will open not the real hidden data, but other, special provided files, which can be any file you want.
TrueCrypt is very user friendly software that is extremely simple to configure and use. And it’s free.
For all those reasons TrueCrypt are one of the best encryption software available.
